This was one of my favorite bars in Cologne because of their good selection of Belgian beers, the atmosphere, the quizzes, the billard table, etc. But it has been only getting worse. In one of my visits with my friends, music was playing loud, so when ordering I spoke in a tone of voice that the waitress could hear me and her answer was: "Schrei mich nicht so an!!". Should I whisper then, when there is loud music being played in the background? Me and my friends were perplexed and didn't understand her.. cause it was clear that I spoke louder so that she could hear me due to the loud music... Anyway she was overall rude and grumpy and on that same day there seemed to be trouble with her and people who were playing billard. I guess some of them wrote reviews here as well to express their dissatisfaction with her too.. I could never understand how such people get hired... One would think that the most basic thing one needs to work in the service sector is to be customer friendly. Well.. think again... Months later we go there again in a group of 10 people (it was a Sunday). We just wanted to have a beer and they were showing Tatort in the television. There were less than 10 people inside the bar. When we entered, that same rude lady said we can't talk normally and have to whisper because people are watching Tatort.. Seriously? Bars are places to talk, socialize, laugh, have fun. Not to watch telenovelas. Want to watch telenovelas? Then I suggest you stay home with your grandma... So ok, you just lost 10 customers because of your telenovela. We went to a bar across the street where there was good music playing, good vibes and we were treated nicely and welcomed. My suggestion to the bar is.. 1- Employ waiters/waitresses that are friendly, helpful and know how to deal with customers in a polite manner, smiling, being welcoming. Not grumpy. Not rude. 2- Quit displaying Tatort or any event of the sort. This doesn't belong in a bar. Want to do some event? Do quizzes or something like that instead. Something that encourages people to talk to each other, instead of being passive and quiet and unable to talk because of some telenovela... Price per person: €10–20 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Belgische Bier

I went to this PUB and got asked to be quiet more than once. I was speaking in a normal tone of voice in a PUB, a place to SOCIALIZE!!! I do not recommend this place AT ALL! Never in my life have i gone to a BAR and got asked to "speak in a calmer voice". Awful service. Price per person: €1–10 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Tankstelle, just like its surrounding area, was surprisingly more than pleasant, as a matter of fact it was great. First time in Cologne for a visit, did not have any expectations whatsoever, in the end have experienced a vibrant city, with packed bars on every corner. Worth a visit.
