Man sitzt wunderbar am / auf dem Rhein. Der beste Sommer Salat der Stadt. Tolle Fleisch Qualität. Montags extra Speisekarte. Kaltes, gut gezapftes Gaffelkölsch. Price per person: €20–30 Recommendation for vegetarians: Highly recommend Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking

Never ever again! Went to the Sürther boathouse again today after a long time. It started on the phone that they didn't want to make a reservation, we should come by on a 'good luck' basis. When we arrived 15 minutes later they were wondering why we didn't have a reservation...luckily there were some tables available. When we ordered, we (4 people) quickly agreed. We just asked if we could swap boiled potatoes for fried potatoes and steak fries. That wouldn't be a problem, said the friendly waiter...unfortunately he didn't mention that this would involve a side dish change fee of €2.50/change. The food came very quickly. The asparagus was extremely al dente and instead of the hollandaise we all received a chili hollandaise. Mind you, this was without the waiter’s notice. When we asked why we didn't all receive the hollandaise as stated in the menu, the waiter simply said: 'Sorry, the kitchen must have made a mistake'. Since the table next to us had already asked us whether we had also received the chili hollandaise, I asked the waiter whether the 'normal hollandaise' had perhaps run out and we had all now received the chili version. 'That will probably be the case,' he said with a smile. That's all ok, as long as no one has a chili allergy and as long as you don't charge €2.50 for a side dish change and then change a specified side dish yourself without notifying us. Even when I pointed this out to the waiter after receiving the bill (€7.50 side dish change), he just shrugged his shoulders and referred to the usual rules of the Sürther Boothaus. Sorry, if this is how you treat your guests, then today was unfortunately the last time we were in the Sürther Bootshaus.
