We stayed two nights at the AKZENT, and were really impressed by the level of service. The hotel appears to be family run, and everyone was very nice and provided good guidance on our plans. They provided bus tickets which made local travel easy. We did two day trips from here (Koblenz and boppard). Beds are comfortable, and the memory foam pillows are notable. Breakfast is good with a few highlights including really great bread and yoghurt. Rhens is a quiet little town but does have a good pub, shawarma joint and a full sized grocery store. Service: 5

We were looking for a home base for a few days while visiting picturesque towns along the Rhine and Moselle rivers, Rhens seemed like a quiet little town near the train and bus services, and one of its rare hotels is Akzent Hotel Roter Ochse. Built in 1699, we expected the hotel to show some age, but our room, upper right on the top floor, was fully renovated, clean and quiet. We found it modest but enchanting. The hotel is run by a third generation hotelier with family on site. All of our requests and questions were met with calm competence by every single person we engaged. We felt supported, not just "served" by them. Management is simply top notch. Due to our daily travel schedules, we did not eat at the Roter Ochse's restaurant, but based on the unique look of the facility and the wonderful smells emanating from it each morning, it was our loss. Imagine taking breakfast on an indoor/outdoor restaurant patio bound on one side by a 6 century old town wall. There is only one potential negative with this hotel and that is that there is no elevator. If stairs are an issue, try to book on the ground or lower floor. As for us, we'd return stairs and all. We loved Hotel Roter Ochse and the town of Rhens. We're already dreaming of returning some day. Service: 5

Would stay again, staff were very helpful. Breakfast was great, rooms were clean and functional. AC would be nice, very hot summers night on our stay. A little tired in communal areas but definitely a good option. The desire to become automated is a bit a bit tiresome, loads of emails and online options/requirements. Probably good if you don’t like talking to people and check in late. Rhens itself has unfortunately seen its best days, worth a trip. Hopefully there can be some investment and reinvigoration. Service: 5
